Then I headed back into the big city, and went to the bird sanctuary. It was a little better there, but still cold. It's amazing the difference a few months will make. The ducks don't seem to mind, they were swimming in an open spot on the ice.
Then I saw a goose, sitting on a tree stump. I've never seen a goose "perched" before, so I got a shot. It was kind of blah as it was, so I converted it to black and white, which gave it some oomph.
And a hawk circling the river. I don't know if these guys are winter residents or not, but this is the first one I've seen all year.
Another thing I haven't seen out there is deer. Strange, because you'd think that they would be easier to see with all the bare branches and snow, but they aren't.
We got another 6-8 inches of snow over the weekend, so winter is still hanging on here. But soon the baby ducks will be out, the leaves will come back, and it will warm up. I've got plans to go back here
now that I have figured out my camera a little more, so stay tuned for that. I also did a little networking this weekend, and it looks like there is a possibilty for a couple of photo shoots this spring/summer, so we shall see.
